Marketing & Content Assistant
Gwen Kathol, Marketing & Content Assistant
Hi! I’m the Marketing and Content Assistant at Maple Leaf Counseling, where I serve as the lead content strategist for our public education efforts. I create MLC’s monthly content calendar, develop psychology-focused educational content, and manage our social media platforms, with the goal of making mental health information accessible, engaging, and grounded in compassion.
Before joining Maple Leaf Counseling, I interned with the Child Mind Institute, where I completed a five-week training program focused on mental health research, treatment approaches, and career pathways in psychology. During this time, I also completed a capstone project examining the impact of social media on eating disorders. I later interned at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, where I gained hands-on experience supporting community programming through group therapy observation, event planning, content creation, youth resource organization, and participation in outreach events and board meetings.
I am currently a youth leader with the LA LGBT Center’s Youth Leadership Team, a leadership development program centered on empowering LGBTQ+ and allied youth to advocate for equity, wellness, and justice. Through this work, I’ve developed strong skills in communication, organization, collaboration, and community-based wellness initiatives rooted in cultural pride and systems change.
At Maple Leaf Counseling, my work supports all clients and families by helping translate complex psychological topics into clear, relatable content that promotes understanding, access to care, and emotional well-being.
Outside of work, I’m from Sierra Madre, California, and enjoy baking, shopping, and spending time with friends. In my downtime, you’ll usually find me taking a nap, experimenting with new makeup looks, or on the phone with my best friend, Jack.
